Hello, I am very eager to try your instructions out but I don’t fully understand. I know the abreviations but at the end of each round you have turn and 1sc or 2sc etc. Once I turn, do I do a single crochet or does this tell me something else? I am very confused! At the end of Rnd 1 shouldn’t I have 2 single crochets worked in from the second chain from hook and if so, what does the 1sc mean??

    Thank you

Rnd. 1: ch 2, work 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, turn. 1 sc

Rnd. 2: 2 sc in first sc, ch 1, turn. 2 sc

Rnd. 3: 2 sc in first 2 sc, ch 1, turn. 4 sc

  2. In rnd. 1 (this is the beginning), start with the ch 2, then work 1 sc in the second ch from hook, then you will want to make a ch 1 and turn.

In rnd. 2 (this is the first increase) you will want to make 2 sc in the beginning sc (sc twice in the same sc), then ch 1 and turn. At this point you should have 2 sc

In rnd. 3 (this is another increase) you will want to make 2 sc in the first sc and 2 sc in the second sc, then ch 1 and turn. Now you have 4 sc

The pattern will continue to increase on each rnd. until you get to rnd. 17…….it should look like a triangle at this point. You should have 18 sc at end of rnd. 17.
Then work 18 sc back and forth until rnd. 49 (or to the length that you like). Once you get to rnd. 49, this is where you start the decreases and this will create the “matching triangle on that side of the hat.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any other questions.
    Carol
