Supplies:  Size 10 black and yellow cotton crochet thread; size B/1/2.25mm crochet hook, (or size 3 steel crochet hook for smaller size flower)

This pattern can also be completed using size 20 cotton crochet thread using a size 6 or size 10 steel crochet hook.

Stitches used: ch (chain), slst (slip stitch), sc (single crochet), hdc (half double crochet), dc (double crochet)

Gauge will vary depending on size of hook and thread.

Directions:

Rnd. 1: with black; ch2; work 8 sc in 2^nd ch from hook; join with slst to beginning sc.     8sc

Rnd. 2: ch1, *2sc in next sc*; repeat from *to* 7 times, join with slst to beginning sc; fasten off black.        16sc

Rnd. 3: with yellow; attach thread at any sc with slst; *ch10, sc in 2^nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 5 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, slst in next sc on black center*, repeat from *to* 15 times; join with slst to beginning slst.  Fasten off for single petal row flower, for double row, continue to rnd. 4.      16petals

Rnd. 4: ch1, sc, ch1 in same st, working behind first row of petals; *sc, ch1 over next slst (into sc of previous rnd.)*; repeat from *to* 14 times; join with slst to beginning sc.

Rnd. 5: *ch10, sc in 2^nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch; dc in next 5 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, slst in ch-1sp, slst in next sc*; repeat from *to* 15 times; fasten off.         16 petals

Note: additional rows of petals can be added by repeating rnds. 4 and 5.
