Vintage Style Dress and Bloomers Potholders-Crochet Pattern

DSCN0449 (800x584)

I looked high and low for a potholder pattern like my Grandmother had on her icebox.  (Really-it was an icebox!)  I couldn’t find one that I liked, so this is what I came up with.  I think it’s pretty close to my memory of hers.

  3. Carole Selby Says:

I love this pattern! I tried to follow it but on the dress rows 10-12 don’t come out right the way they are written. When I follow the pattern as written it pinches almost closed. Is 10-12 missing something? I’ve tried it 5-6 times and it never comes out right.

  4. Thanks for the heads-up! Row 9 starts the “shell” rnds……..there is a typo on rnd. 10…..should read:
Rnds. 10-12: 2dc, ch1, 2dc in next ch-1sp, skip next 2 dc, *dc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, 2dc, ch1, 2dc in next ch-1sp*, repeat from *to* 13 times, join to beginning dc, ch3, do not turn.

  5. Carole Selby Says:

Thank you I will try it again!

Thank you so much for coming up with these patterns! My Gran had them on her refrigerator also. My Aunt gave them to the Goodwill before I could claim them & I have been searching for patterns. Now it can duplicate the ivory & red ones my Gran had. She also had the bonnet & petticoat. Do you know if there is a pattern for them? Thank you again! Judy Meyer

  9. You’re so very welcome. I know Maggie’s Crochet has bonnet style in her vintage potholder collection. You could also check Ravelry.

  10. Judy Meyer Says:

Hello would you please be able to send me a hard copy of your patterns of the vintage dress and bloomers I would really love to make these but I don’t have a place to copy your pattern it would be most helpful to me to have a hard copy thank you address is Eileen 1100 Calle Serrano nm 87532

  13. Eileen:
I’m afraid that I don’t own a printer. You could try your local library. Most have printers and internet and can make the copies for
    about a dime or so.
