Supplies: Size 10 black and yellow cotton crochet thread; size 1 steel crochet hook, (or size 3 steel crochet hook for smaller size flower)
This pattern can also be completed using size 20 cotton crochet thread using a size 6 or size 10 steel crochet hook.
Stitches used: ch, sl st, sc, hdc, dc
Gauge will vary depending on size of hook and thread.
Directions:
Rnd. 1: with black; ch 2; work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with sl st to beginning sc. 8 sc
Rnd. 2: ch 1, *2 sc in next sc*; repeat from asterisk 7 times, join with sl st to beginning sc; fasten off black. 16 sc
Rnd. 3: with yellow; attach thread at any sc with sl st; *ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 5 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in next sc on black center*, repeat from asterisk 15 times; join with sl st to beginning sl st. Fasten off for single petal row flower, for double row, continue to rnd. 4. 16 petals
Rnd. 4: ch 1, sc, ch 1 in same st, working behind first row of petals; *sc, ch 1 over next sl st (into sc of previous rnd.)*; repeat from asterisk 14 times; join with sl st to beginning sc.
Rnd. 5: *ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch; dc in next 5 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in ch 1 sp, sl st in next sc*; repeat from asterisk 15 times; fasten off. 16 petals
Note: additional rows of petals can be added by repeating rnds. 4 and 5.
