When beginning a new pattern, do you find that your start up chain is always tighter??  It’s an easy fix.  Start your chain with a larger hook.  If your patteren calls for an H hook, make your start up ch with an I hook, then switch to the H hook for all following rnds.   This will help to maintain gauge throughout your project.  Give it an try!    http://cobblerscabin.wordpress.com/happy-hookin/swiffer-dry-mop-cover-and-dust-mitt/

Want to make a real fluffy pom-pom?  Wrap yarn around 2 fingers at least 50 times, while still on fingers, securely tie in center of wrapped yarn.  Slide off fingers…….to fluff up…….take a clean, dry toothbrush and brush the yarn strings of the pom-pom until they become fluffy.   Try it out! It works great!     http://cobblerscabin.wordpress.com/the-pattern-shop/pattern-shop-ii/toddler-berets-pattern/

Looking for a great stiffner for your latest project??  Commercial stiffners are wonderful, but I’ll bet you have something around the house that will work just as good or even better!  Mix white glue and water 50/50 or you can use wallpaper paste……the premixed is the best!  It dries clear and last forever! Give it a try!  It works great with this pattern:
