Is the band and strap on the western hat crochet or was something else used?
Thank You for your help,
Sandy

I used an 1/8″ ribbon for the tie. I have also made one using a tie crocheted with thread. Either works very nicely.

i made the hat and i love it. now im on the vest and im confused, rnd 20-26. i got that, now i need to attach yarn again. rnd 13, skip 4 dc after the strap. i just cant imagine it.

Once you finish rnd. 26, this completes the first shoulder. Now go back to rnd. 13, skip the next 4 sc (this will create an armhole), attach the yarn in the very next sc, work the following rnds, to rnd. 23. Then you will want to go back to rnd. 13 again, skip the next 4 sc (this creates the 2nd armhole)and complete the following rnds. This will make the vest in one piece, so you will only have to sew at the shoulder seams. Hope this helps.

My pleasure!
December 20, 2012 at 9:26 am
On the vest, did you mean to switch between sc & Dc, or is this a mistake?
December 20, 2012 at 3:33 pm
2 rows are worked in sc, then the next row is worked in dc……2 more rows worked in sc, then the next row in dc…….this is done up to row 23…..is this what you mean??? Hope this helps.
December 20, 2012 at 4:05 pm
That’s what I was questioning. Thanks. Next time, you might want to be more explicit about making the back too.

round 4 is very confusing to me.. it says increase evenly by 4.. but where and when? Where do I increase by 4?
March 16, 2013 at 11:53 pm
I apologize, round 4 of the hat pattern is where I am confused.. How and when do I increase evenly by 4?
March 17, 2013 at 7:28 am
Thank you for your interest. It really doesn’t matter where you add the increases as long as they are spread out evenly. Since it looks a bit like an oval……You cound do the increases just before and just after the “rounded ends”. This will help to keep the oval shape….Hope this helps.
