I’ve got to try this!

It’s really pretty easy! I haven’t done it yet, but you could sew metal buttons to the bottom sides and have roller skates!

I made these skates for my daughter’s doll–have linked on our blog. I would really advise marking the rounds–even though the pieces aren’t big and you think you can just keep count, you can get out of whack if you forget where you started.

For the top and tongue part of the skates, it says “working through both thickness on sole and top of shoe, work 12 sc” What exactly does this mean? I can’t figure out where I’m supposed to be attaching the tongue of the skate. Thanks!

You want to center the tongue over the front, top part of the skate. Work 12 sc, working your sc thru the tongue and the bottom of the skate. Start from the side of the skate, working around the front of the skate and over to the opposite side……this attaches the tongue to the front of the skate with sc.
Hope this helps.

are you working row one in a straight line or joining? are you sewing that part together? it is not clear to me and I don’t see where it says anything about it. maybe I am just too tired, but I do want to do a pair of these this week.

The sole is worked in the round, it should look like a little tiny oval rug………..the top sides of the skate is worked flat (back and forth)…..the top (instep) is worked in the round and crocheted onto the skate……..the “blade” (paperclip) is added to the bottom of the skate and crocheted in place. Hope this helps, feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.
